Portion Control are a band who have been in existence since the very early 80's and have a thrilling catalogue of melodic, sometimes edgy, electronic music. They are staunchly independent, and operated below most people's radar for far too long, but Lexer is about to help change all that!
They're hugely influential, virtually writing the blueprint that bands such as Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, Orbital, Front Line Assembly, Skinny Puppy and generations of artists that have since followed, and virtually invented early electronic indie music in terms of musicality and use of electronic drums, synthesisers and early samplers.
Their influence was such that they were invited to support both Blancmange on the Mange Tout 1984 tour, and shortly afterwards Depeche Mode on the UK leg of the Some Great Reward tour. Their high energy edgy electronics was, for many in the audience of those shows, both eye-opening and a route into other forms of electronic music.
This definitive 77-track 4CD set brings together the essential recordings from the 1983–1986 period, all fully remastered by Paul Lavigne at Kontrast Mastering. Featuring complete “Hit The Pulse”, “Step Forward”, “Psycho Bod Saves The World” LPs and “Purge E.P” releases alongside classic 12” singles “The Great Divide”, “Raise The Pulse” and “Go-Talk”; B-sides; rare compilation cuts; demos; live recordings and new remixes. The collection includes 16 previously unreleased tracks with a further 12 appearing on CD for the first time. The release is housed in a deluxe 5-panel ecopak with a 24-page booklet featuring archival photos and striking new artwork by Stefan Alt.
